I participated in a contest to design a new image for the city of Palma de Mallorca (capital of the island).

I made a selection of typical products of the area and created a series of pictograms that include elements of gastronomy, craft, fauna, flora and architecture. Together with a use of strong typography and fresh, cheerful colours, this image gives a modern feel to the city.

People from the island can feel identified with the products and tourists can learn about what the island can offer.

1. Sobrasada is a typical Mallorcan sausage and Quelitas are a kind of dry, thick cracker. 2. Mallorcan windmill, a very typical element in the landscape . 3. Castle structure seen from above. 4. EnsaÏmada is a sweet pastry 5. Typical ceramic jug. 6.“Llaüt” is a Mallorcan boat. 7.Senalla is the type of basket made on the island“ 8. Black pig, typical from the island 9. Tomàtiga de Ramellet are the local tomatoes. , 10. Boc (goat) from the Balearic islands.

The logo plays with the word "DE" (that means "OF"/ "FROM") together with the pictograms, as the image is strongly based on things typical from Mallorca.
